PRP Facelift

The PRP facelift (aka,Vampire Facelift) is one way to help slow-down and possibly reverse the aging process. This has the potential to eliminate nasolabial folds, marionette lines, hollow cheeks, baggy eyelids, sagging and wrinkling skin. The PRP facelift actually changes your skin on a cellular level to make it softer, firmer and in a positive way without having surgery.

If you have already had surgery or are planning on it in the future, the PRP facelift will augment the results.  These changes are permanent and whenever you feel a refresher is needed, we will schedule it, without having to undergo surgery.

What is involved?

The PRP facelift begins with the PRP (Platelet rich plasma) micro-needling.  We then inject PRFM (Platelet rich fibrin matrix) into areas that need “body”.  This will help stimulate the body’s natural collagen production, increase fat cells and increase the blood supply to “fill-in” the areas that have been depleted.

What is PRP: Platelet Rich Plasma Protein

Platelet Rich Plasma is produced from the patient’s own blood.  After a blood sample is obtained from the patient, the blood is put into a special centrifuge to separate the PRP from the blood.  The platelets are the cells in the blood that helps clotting, but it also helps the healing process and to grow new cells.

What is the Recovery time?

After the treatment is completed, the patient’s skin will be mildly pinkish, feeling as if they had a mild sunburn.  Most patient’s skin will heal in 2-3 days. The body’s collagen production will usually continue for 4-8 weeks, resulting in a gradual improvement over this period.

How long does it last?

Since our bodies continue to age, although at different rates based on a patient’s lifestyle, diet and toxin exposure, periodic treatments may be needed to maintain the youthful results that you will see after the initial treatment.

How often can treatments be performed?

You may repeat the PRP treatments every 4-6 weeks.  We recommend 3 treatments spaced 4-6 weeks apart then every 6-12 months after this.

How long until I see benefit?

There will be some noticeable improvement immediately and you will continue to see improvement in your skin as your body’s natural repair process creates more collagen.  The full benefit may take 4-8 weeks to occur.

Does it hurt?

At East Bay Innovative Medicine we use a specialized topical cream to anesthetize the skin. There can be some minor pain associated with the procedure but is extremely tolerable.

Can you go back to work the same day?

Your face will be red and irritated, there is a possibility that some bruising will take place. In most cases people feel comfortable going back to work the next day, but this will depend on each patient’s situation.

What are the adverse effects?

Adverse effects are rare with the plasma facelift but may include; infection, bruising, red and irritated skin, changes in color, and some minor swelling.

PRP facelift with filler option

The standard PRP facelift can be enhanced by the addition of a specialized injectable dermal fill product. The fills are organic hyaluronic based products. The fill is desirable for patients with greater tissue deficits, more extensive/deeper wrinkling, or wanting to augment lips or other parts of the face. The organic fill product will work with the specialized platelet rich plasma to create a very pleasing, more youthful affect. This decision to add a fill product to your PRP facelift will be made at the time of the initial consultation and will be personalized to each patient.

What is the best age to start?

The best time to begin is when the first sign of changes occur.  This could be changes in color, texture or the development of fine wrinkles.  These changes can begin to occur as early as the late 20s depending on your genetics and your skin type. By starting early, patients will have greater skin preservation with less intense and less frequent treatments.

Is there a point where it is too late to benefit?

The plasma facelift may not achieve the results that are hoped for especially with more advanced sagging or atrophy. It may be best to combine the PRP facelift with a surgical  facelift or other procedure. At your facial consultation the best treatment options will be discussed keeping in mind each patient’s ideal results.

PRP Rejuvenation / PRP Facial Options

  • Option 1: PRP injection + hyaluronic acid (dermal fill) + micro-needling = most significant improvement
  • Option 2: PRP injection + hyaluronic acid = 2nd most significant improvement
  • Option 3: PRP Injection therapy = 3rd most significant improvement
  • Option 4: PRP facial (micro-needling)

Add “Growth Hormone” Booster to any PRP treatment

Growth hormone is essential for new tissue generation. Its use can improve the texture and quality of skin, collagen, and other components of soft tissue.

At East Bay Innovative Medicine we utilize a protocol using injectable growth hormone boosters to enhance the effect of our anti-aging treatments. This does not involve using growth hormone itself, but rather an injection of the hormone that stimulates your body to produce more of its own growth hormone. The needles that are used are very small and nearly painless as they are injected. The recommended cycle of treatment is for 30 days.

The booster treatment is appropriate for most of the anti-aging modalities. The use of this booster can be discussed at your consultation.

ADD “The Firm” Intravenous Collagen Booster to any PRP treatment

Vitamin C is a critical component in the formation of collagen. By giving high-dose Vitamin C intravenously, along with other collagen forming vitamins (such as biotin) and supplements, the effect of your treatment can be enhanced.

We recommend an intravenous infusion the day of your treatment, and then weekly for two doses. This will maximize the benefit during the time that the healing is most active from the treatment.

The intravenous boosters are safe and painless. They take about 30 minutes to infuse.
